Can somebody please give us closure on ‘Euphoria’s’ finale? We have questions

The internet has descended into a full-blown frenzy following Euphoria's series finale. While some viewers praised the ending for its bold choices, others have already dubbed it one of television's most disappointing finales, even drawing comparisons to Game of Thrones. Love it or hate it, one thing is clear – everyone has something to say about it.

After a season packed with shocking deaths, rushed storylines, and plot threads that seemed to lead nowhere, the finale left us with more questions than answers. Where we were hoping for closure, it opened the door to a whole new wave of confusion, speculation, and debate. A day later, we're still turning over some of the biggest moments in our heads and wondering what exactly it all meant.

From unresolved character arcs to lingering mysteries, these are the questions we can't stop thinking about after Euphoria's finale.

1. Rue was chasing redemption the whole show, so what drove the decision to kill her?

After watching years of Rue fighting addiction, guilt, Laurie, Alamo and herself, her story ultimately ended with a lethal overdose. The fentanyl overdose was a carefully orchestrated murder after Alamo inadvertently discovered Rue was working with the DEA.

This plot choice seems at odds with the path to redemption Rue was carefully attempting to tread. It is a nihilistic choice that some viewers felt was out-of-pocket.

We're arguably most upset that no one (save Ali) knows her death was a result of murder, not an overdose. Perhaps there is some solace in knowing she died dreaming of her mum and Fez.

2. What happened to Maddy and Cassie after all they went through? Did they create an OF creator space?

We begin the final episode with Cassie emotionally devastated and financially struggling, and Maddy trying to rebuild her life after striking a deal with Alamo. By the end – while both seem to be in a more emotionally stable place – we thought we would have more closure on these characters, especially after the trauma Maddy went through in the shoot-out scene.

The episode does allude to the fact that Maddy and Cassie are using her house (the one Cassie and Nate owned together) as a kind of OnlyFans creator boarding house – and that Cassie has now joined the business side, leaving the creator life behind.

3. Why did Bishop turn on Alamo?

Some fans have questioned why he turned on Alamo right at the end. Some viewers believe this was foreshadowed by the story Bishop told about the snake – how it sizes up for a while before it strikes. In the end, this is exactly what Bishop did to Alamo. But ultimately, his reasons remain unclear, and not something that we can necessarily make sense of.

4. What did they do with Nate's body? And why is no one investigating his disappearance?

Many were shocked to see that Maddy and Cassie decided to remain complicit in Nate's disappearance. But what did Alamo and the Armenian gangsters do with his body? And now that the primary gangster is dead, why did they not report his death to the police? Was it a requirement of Alamo's that they remain quiet?

Either way, why is Nate's family more interested in where he is? Why are his friends – particularly the ones he owes money to – out looking for him? This part was confusing for some.

5. Why didn't we see Rue's funeral?

Was Ali the only one that truly cared about Rue's death? We were hoping for a more meaningful send off for a character so beloved.

6. What was the point of Jules in the final season?

The final episode leaves Jules where she started the season: painting. After finding out about Rue's death, we see her painting Rue in what looks like hellfire. Was she angry at the thought that she overdosed, or was she upset that their last interaction was a fight? But perhaps most frustratingly, we didn't get much closure on Jules' character in the final season. It felt like she had to make an appearance this season and this was the best they could give.

7. Where did Wayne and Faye go?

They escaped the DEA raid, and ran towards the road. In the final scene we see of them, Faye is hitchhiking, and when a family pulls over to help, Wayne comes out of a bush with a gun. Quite a sinister end, but perhaps it was the only end for them. One thing we know for sure, is they're a mess.

8. What happened to Angel?

Yes, it was implied something terrible had happened to her after we see her license in the safe – amidst a stack of other licenses. But what actually happened to her? The last we saw of Angel was Rue dropped her off at a shoddy by Alamo-approved rehab facility. At the time Rue drops her off, we do see a somewhat sinister car pull up behind her. Was she murdered? Did she overdose? Was she trafficked? This part remains unclear.

9. How did Leslie and Gia handle Rue’s death?

We know the actors that played their characters weren't in this season, so we were never going to get a reaction scene. But after seven years, we thought there would be more closure for this family.

10. Where did Rosalía's character, Magick, go?

She wasn't in the season finale, so we don't really know where her character went or get a conclusion... And apparently Rosalía had a song for the finale that got scrapped? She was a rather central character so we are surprised that we are left wondering where she is and what happened to her.

11. Why did this season seem like a punish?

The main takeway I have, this season felt like no one wanted to be there. What happened on set that made this season feel so painful? None of the actors discussed or posted about it, and yes there have been rumours. Honestly, we need a tell-all book to explain what went on behind the scenes.
