The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards have arrived, but before the official festivities kick off, my eyes are trained firmly on the red carpet. Because yes, the snubs and surprises that come with handing out awards are interesting, but if history tells us anything, some of the most memorable moments of the evening (to me, anyway) will take place outside the event itself.
We know who has been nominated and who will be presenting, so we have a fairly good gauge of who we can expect to make their way down the red carpet. What they will wear, however, is a mystery until the last minute. Will Law Roach manage to secure something straight from the New York Fashion Week spring summer 2027 runways for Zendaya? Will Sarah Pidgeon pay one final homage to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy? And which YSL creation will Connor Storrie — nominated for Saturday Night Live, not Heated Rivalry (sigh) — rustle up for the occasion? These are the questions that matter, obviously.
There are, of course, awards involved in all of this. The 2026 nominees represent some of the biggest shows and performances of the past year, with The Pitt dominating the nominations, followed closely by Hacks, which finished up with its fifth season earlier this yaer. But we’ll worry about who wins once everyone has had their moment on the red carpet.
