Our favourite platinum-haired ladies in Hollywood are reuniting once more. Once co-stars in the offbeat How to Talk to Girls at Parties and the haunting The Beguiled, Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning are now trading period dramas and indie eccentricity for the bright lights of prestige television. Yes, overnight it has been confirmed that the duo are now at the helm of Discretion, a sleek legal thriller television mini-series by A24.
Find everything we know so far, below.
What's it about?
The eight-episode series centres on Lenny (played by Fanning), a summer associate at a powerful Dallas law firm who stumbles across a network of nondisclosure agreements hiding a dangerous secret. Things take a darker turn when she realises she’s signed one herself, putting her at odds with Sharon (played by Kidman), the firm’s most influential female partner. What begins as a mentorship quickly spirals into a tense power struggle about secrecy, loyalty, and survival.
Who is involved?
Outside of Kidman and Fanning (who are also set to executive produce the series), we are in the dark about casting. But surely, with big names like theirs (and A24) attached to the project, it's likely to attract some more buzzy casting announcements.
What's it based on?
The series was written and executive produced by The Husbands author Chandler Baker.
Interestingly, the path from short story to series was lightning-fast. A24 acquired the rights to Baker’s unpublished short piece earlier this year (reportedly for a seven-figure, making it one of the year’s biggest IP deals).
When will it be released?
Production is expected to kick off in 2026, so it's likely we won't be seeing this one on Paramount's streaming platform until at least the end of next year. We'll keep you updated as we hear more.
