Now that they've finally landed the jet with Stranger Things, (and there aren't any surprise episodes up their sleeve) the Duffer Brothers have something new up their sleeve.
It still sits entirely in the realm of horror and thriller, and is just one of many of the gory ventures that they're currently working on. With a Stranger Things spinoff and a live-action Death Note confirmed to be in the works, it's a shocker they haven't tired of the genre and come out with something with a bite more of a whiplash element. Say, perhaps even taking on the Twilight series, anyone?
But it's undeniable – the Duffer Brothers are at the height of their horror game. As confirmed by Netflix, the latest addition to their canon of work – Something Really Bad is Going to Happen – might be their funniest, most acerbic take yet.

What's it about?
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is an eight-episode limited series set against the backdrop of an ill-fated wedding.
It's touted as an "atmospheric horror" that follows a bride and groom in the week leading up to their doomed nuptials, as dread and tragedy slowly creep into what should be the happiest time of their lives. As the title suggests, disaster is inevitable – and the tension lies in watching it unfold.

Netflix has now revealed the full ensemble lineup, which includes:

- Adam DiMarco (who you might remember from Overcompensating and The White Lotus)
- Jeff Wilbusch
- Karla Crome
- Gus Birney
- Jennifer Jason Leigh
- Ted Levine

Who else is involved?
The series was created by Haley Z. Boston, who also serves as show runner and executive producer. The Duffer Brothers executive produce through their Upside Down Pictures banner alongside Hilary Leavitt and Andrea Sperling.
Previously praising Boston’s script, the Duffers said: "We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice – her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world."
Directing duties are shared by Weronika Tofilska (of Baby Reindeer), Axelle Carolyn, and Lisa Brühlmann.
When will it be released?
Netflix has confirmed that Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will premiere globally on 26 March 2026 on the streaming platform.
