Romance rarely arrives untouched. It carries memory with it – fragments of the past reshaped through new hands, old worlds disturbed by youthful energy and the thrill of discovery. For Dior Men’s Pre Fall 26 collection, Jonathan Anderson explores what he describes as a compounding of references: an instinctive layering of histories, silhouettes and attitudes that transform the familiar into something unexpectedly modern. Nothing feels fixed. Instead, the collection moves between eras with ease, collapsing nostalgia into the present moment with Anderson’s unmistakable sensitivity.
Inside the pages of our May Noise and Disorder issue, the collection unfolds within the fading grandeur of an eccentric estate. Ornate interiors sit in slow decay, gardens grow wild around stone pathways, and each room feels suspended between memory and imagination. Against this backdrop, the story becomes a poetic exploration of youth, tender masculinity and adventure – where elegance is softened by curiosity and tradition disrupted by play.

There is a tension that runs throughout the collection. Tailoring remains sharp but never rigid, coats drape with ease, and knitwear introduces softness against more formal silhouettes. Anderson approaches menswear with emotional nuance, allowing structure and vulnerability to exist side by side. Traditional references appear throughout – aristocratic dressing, classic British tailoring, hints of collegiate nostalgia – yet they are interrupted by unexpected proportions, relaxed styling and subtle irreverence that make the collection feel entirely contemporary.

Within the imagery, the garments take on an almost cinematic presence. Boys wander through sprawling hallways and overgrown landscapes as though caught between boyhood and adulthood, romance and rebellion. Light falls softly across rich fabrications, while exaggerated collars, layered textures and sculptural outerwear create silhouettes that feel both historic and entirely new. There is intimacy in the way the clothing moves – never overly polished, but lived-in and expressive.
Accessories punctuate the collection with Anderson’s characteristic wit, grounding moments of nostalgia in something sharper and more playful. Pre Fall 26 ultimately reflects Anderson’s fascination with transformation – the beauty of revisiting what already exists and giving it new emotional resonance.
