Right now it's safe to say the internet is obsessed with Obsession. Our For You Pages are stacked with fan theories and easter eggs, plenty of accolades for the acting chops of one Inde Navarrette, and of course plenty of ire directed at Bear (the film's true villain, if you ask us). Everyone seems desperate to find out where to watch Obsession, and the film itself has garnered huge commercial success, and its director and writer – Curry Barker – has already announced his next few projects. One of which is a brand new original horror film about fake ghost hunters that he says will be a continuation of the Obsession cinematic universe. What is the new film about?
According to Barker himself, the new film is called Anything But Ghosts and will be a comedy horror starring himself and his writing partner Cooper Tomlinson (who you might recognise as Ian from Obsession).
"I'm really, really excited," Barker told CBR in a recent interview. "It's about these two con artist ghost hunters that just con old women and single Dads – but they're really good at it, you know? They can make the table shake, they can make the lights flicker, they've got all the special equipment. They put on a show – until they run into a very real, very dangerous, dark entity."
Barker also told Bloody Disgusting: “It’s so different than Obsession, because the idea itself just lends itself better to comedy, because it’s literally about two ghost hunter con artists. It’s Cooper and me doing our thing, so it lends itself better to comedy, but it’s still set in this super grounded world. It’s ghosts being real in a world where ghosts are not real."

Who is involved?
Barker will once again be directing from a script he co-wrote with longtime creative partner Tomlinson. The duo will also star as the ghost hunters. Alongside them will be Bryce Dallas Howard, Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, horror film veteran Violet McGraw, Kristina Matisic and Halle Galloway.
How is it connected to Obsession?
Kind of. While the film itself will not directly link as a prequel or sequel – it does seem to be set in the same universe as Obsession. Barker himself confirmed that the films would be linked – and that the fateful magic of the One Wish Willow would make another appearance. Barker said in a recent film panel: "Well in my next movie, you will see a One Wish Willow. And – I should not be saying this – there's a news story in the next movie where you hear a news anchor talking about a triple homicide. Which doesn't really make sense because Cooper is in the movie – so it's like, is he Ian or is he?"
The admission even seemed to catch Obsession's own leading actors Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston off guard, with Naavarrette asking after a gasp: "Is Nikki going to jail?"

Will there be an official Obsession sequel?
At this point, there's no official word on whether there will be a direct sequel to Obsession. Given its insane cinematic success – the micro-budget horror film shattered expectations by earning $16.1 million domestically in its opening weekend – we think it's likely that there will be film studios looking to replicate its success. And given that the cinematic universe might be expanding with Anything But Ghosts, perhaps there will be a little more storyline to draw from.
The real question is more likely when a sequel would be filmed – especially given Barker is currently also developing a Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot for A24.
