The footwear brand we’re seeing everywhere at Australian Fashion Week

In partnership with Crocs Australia

Anyone who has followed Australian Fashion Week doggedly for the last few decades knows that the runways are only part of what makes it so special; in fact, there are some ready to argue that the real fashions of the week belong to the footpath.

Between castings, backstage call times and rapid outfit photographing outside the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), the most convincing fashion moments sometimes unfold in motion. This season, one brand emerged as the unexpected constant threading its way through Sydney’s street-style circuit: Crocs.

The footwear brand entered Fashion Week with a sharp point of view, leaning into personality-driven styling and a model-off-duty ease that felt entirely aligned with the current mood of fashion. Across the week, creators Jana Bartolo, Elodie Russell and Dut Bol incorporated Crocs into their daily rotations, pairing the silhouettes with oversized tailoring, athletic separates, micro hemlines and sculptural outerwear.

Crocs also partnered with models Lauren Stevenson, Valentina Howse, Declan Castle and Ayden Van Haaften, captured arriving at fittings, moving between shows and gathering backstage.

The standout arrival was the Bae Glitzy Glam Clog, an online exclusive that translated fashion maximalism into something wearable for eight-hour schedules. Covered in sparkling embellishments and finished with a dramatic platform sole, the silhouette captured the heightened glamour fashion crowds gravitated towards during AFW, while retaining the comfort needed for constant movement between venues. The Classic Platform Glitzy Glam Clog followed a similar direction, delivering an all-over glitter finish with enough versatility to sit comfortably alongside classic denim as well as elevated tailoring.

Elsewhere, the newly released Classic Crafted Clog became another street style favourite. Its textured upper and more refined finish gave the familiar Crocs shape a polished edge, particularly when styled with relaxed trousers, leather bombers and layered knitwear.

The appeal lays in its adaptability; polished enough for street-style photography yet functional enough for the pace of Fashion Week. And across all terrain, Crocs were not simply a novelty appearance, but a naturalised participant in the Fashion Week uniform.
