Charli xcx wants to play you her album

If you've been impatiently refreshing the internet in the hope of hearing even a sliver of Charli xcx's next chapter, consider this your golden ticket.

The pop provocateur has announced a series of intimate global listening parties for her forthcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film, extending the invitation via Instagram with the caption: "i wanna play you my album."

The post linked to an interactive map dotted with pins across cities around the world, each leading to an RSVP page offering only the bare essentials: a suburb, the teasing promise that "Cinema and showtime to be communicated," and the chance to claim a coveted spot.

Thankfully, Australia made the cut – and it looks like listening parties are set to take place in both Sydney and Melbourne ahead of the album's official release, meaning a lucky few will hear Charli's latest obsession before the rest of the world catches up. If you need to be caught up, here's everything you need to know...

Where are the Australian listening parties happening?

Australian fans have two opportunities to hear Music, Fashion, Film early, with listening events taking place simultaneously in Sydney and Melbourne on Friday 10 July at 5pm AEST. Given the details shown and the fact that we know they'll both be hosted in cinemas – it's likely they'll be hosted at:

  • Melbourne's Classic Cinemas Elsternwick (a cinema that screens both new releases and arthouse classics in an 1880s building – that also does handmade ice cream).
  • Sydney's Dendy Newtown (an independent cinema chain that shows arthouse and mainstream films, plus theatre and opera screenings).

The exact cinema locations will remain a secret until shortly before the event, with venue details shared only with confirmed ticket holders.

Melbourne's event will welcome 260 fans, while Sydney's listening party has capacity for 200 attendees, making both events particularly intimate.

How do you get access?

Tickets were released via the RSVP links on Charli xcx's interactive map and included entry to the listening event alongside a digital download of Music, Fashion, Film, which will be delivered on the album's release day, 24 July 2026.

Attendees should also be prepared for a fully phone-free experience. Recording and filming will not be permitted, with all phones secured in pouches before entry to keep the music under wraps until release day.

Unfortunately for anyone only just hearing the news, both the Sydney and Melbourne listening parties have already sold out.

Will there be more spots made available?

If you missed out on a ticket, it doesn't look like more spots or listening parties are going to be made available at this point. You might just have to wait for the album's release date on  24 July.
