The camellia is an emblematic flower for the house of CHANEL. It was Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel's favourite, and is often referenced in design. It's also a source of inspiration — see the just-launched Camélia Futura makeup collection, a mix of sparkling formulas designed in collaboration with Cometes Collective artist Cécile Paravina.

CHANEL is well known for limited beauty collections that swiftly sell out, and I imagine this will be the same. Specifically Rouge Coco Flash Lipstick in the shades Rosa and Peachy — a glittering holographic lilac and diluted coral with green shimmer, respectively.

Paravina explains that the metallic accents and futuristic colour palette of the collection — mint, lavender, taupe, grey, gold – is inspired by the camellia's ability to endure harsh climates: "There is something very soft and gentle about the camellia’s aesthetic… which is particularly surprising when you know that it is actually a very hardy plant that adapts and manages to flower even in extreme conditions. This duality is the basis for the collection, marrying soft, romantic qualities with colder, more futuristic and modern codes."

The shine of Camélia Futura in particular is hard to resist; take Fluid Enlumineur, a complexion-focused highlighter combining pink and green particles to give the skin a halo-like effect. There's also the Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palette in Utopia (purple-ish grey, copper, variations of pink) and Rouge Allure Laque liquid lipstick with a molten metal-like finish. My eyes are also firmly fixed on Le Vernis in Pionnière and Utopiste, the grown-up version of glitter polish. Don't forget the Stylo Ombre Et Contour kohl liners and limited blush trio, either. A cosmic makeup dream.
