CAMILLA AND MARC share a lesson in design, unveiling its heavenly flagship store in Victoria’s Armadale

Camilla and Marc Amadale

A mainstay and leader in Australian fashion, CAMILLA AND MARC certainly knows a thing or two about style – an intrinsic understanding that reaches further than the realms of its sartorial genius. If this wasn't clear enough already, the pair has simultaneously cemented their place in the world of both fashion and interiors with the unveiling of their new Neighbourhood Flagship boutique in Armadale.

An homage to our current longing for escapism, the boutique is an elevated visual and textural landscape that places the customer experience front of mind – and heart – creating an intimate shopping experience that celebrates the importance of personal interaction.

“We wanted to use the lockdown period in Melbourne to support local artisans and businesses and create a thoughtful space that our customers could return to once restrictions eased," shared CEO Marc Freeman.

"Armadale is an incredibly cultured, community driven neighbourhood, so with this new space we wanted to create an intimate experience that could transport the local community into a place dedicated to slowing down and appreciating the beauty in life."

Occupying an original terrace on Armadale's high street, CAMILLA AND MARC's new boutique forms the perfect marriage between Victorian architecture and European flare. As you enter the space, you're greeted by two-tone travertine checkerboard floors and skirting, paired with a two-tone, custom colour marmorino render walls. The main event, of course, is the one-off Pearl Wave Onyx-clad counter that both anchors the space and invites customers into the second room.

Large rectangular windows, European oak floorboards and a fitting room swathed in Kvdarat Raf Simons Helia Boucle in a pumpkin shade – CAMILLA AND MARC Armadale is filled with moments that will take you elsewhere.

Working with long-time collaborator Kelvin Ho, director of Akin Atelier, CAMILLA AND MARC Armadale is "an ode to community and a celebration of the human touch."

"We began to develop the design direction for this very special store over a year and a half ago, and during the last eight months, what became really apparent was the need to prioritise meaningful experiences in both an environmental and social context," shared Ho.

"The boutique is intended to be experienced as a tactile environment shaped by hand- crafted finishes and singular materials that evoke wonder & awe."
