BookTok fans, you have a new reason to celebrate: Boys of Tommen, the novel series by Irish writer Chloe Walsh, has been greenlit as a television adaptation by Amazon Prime Video. It joins a long list of books to be picked up by the streamer, including The Summer I Turned Pretty, Red White and Royal Blue, and Daisy Jones and the Six.
So, what do we know about Prime's latest pick? Everything you need to know about Boys of Tommen, below.
What is Boys of Tommen about?
If you've read the six books in the series, you'll know it's an emotional, coming-of-age romance that exploded across both TikTok and bestseller charts. If you haven't, the story centres on Johnny Kavanagh, a star rugby player on the brink of a professional career, and Shannon Lynch, a shy newcomer to the elite Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland.
As you can probably guess, their worlds collide as both teens grapple with their own personal struggles — Johnny with a potentially career-ending injury and Shannon with a turbulent home life. The television show will adapt the stories from the first two books of the series, Binding 13 and Keeping 13.
Who is involved?
Sadly, casting is not yet announced, but naturally all eyes will soon be on the actors selected to play Johnny and Shannon.
Behind the scenes, Prime Video has enlisted a stellar creative team, including Poppy Cogan, best known for her work on A God Girl's Guide to Murder, will serve as writer an executive producer, while Boys of Tommen author Chloe Walsh is also on board as an executive producer.
Nicole Clemens, VP of International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, described the series as a story with “deeply emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters,” reinforcing how the adaptation hopes to reflect the story that resonated so well with fans.
When will it come out?
With the series order only just announced, we're a little way off from an exact release date.
What we do know is that production is expected to begin later in 2026, with many industry observers pointing toward a likely 2027 premiere. We also know that there will be eight episodes in the first season.
