These are the ‘Therapuss’ episodes we’re listening to on repeat

Jake Shane's rise has been nothing short of astronomical. We first fell in love with the 25-year-old over on TikTok, where his unique brand of self-deprecating humour, mixed with his unique (read: random) skits and frequent Octopus reviews quickly earned him a fierce fan base. It didn't take long for the rest of the world to take notice – Shane has since guest starred on Hacks, and is set to star in the upcoming film Wishful Thinking, opposite Maya Hawke and Lewis Pullman.

But proving he can't be confined to one medium, it's his podcast that Shane is perhaps now best known for. Titled 'Therapuss', each interview-format episode sees Shane cosy up to celebs like Role Model, Charli XCX, and Kaia Gerber for intimate (and hilarious) chats.

If you’re new to the pod, here are six of our favourite episodes that we think are the perfect place to start.

Megan Stalter, episode 70

Two of our faves collide in this episode. Stalter's humour is unpredictable at the best of times, so this conversation feels like a fever dream at times, we have to admit. They touch on their latest projects (including Hacks and Too Much), but also delve deeper into things like anxiety, and the weirdness of trying to be funny when you’re not okay.

Role Model, episodes 34 and 45

Not the duo we ever expected, but the duo we needed. ICYMI, the lore between these two runs deep – Shane was actually the first-ever Sally on-stage with Role Model (whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury). In testament to their chemistry, Tucker has actually been on the pod twice. Both episodes are worth a listen.

Glen Powell, episodes 22 and 97

Glen brings the charm — obviously — but in Session 22 (and even more in his return in Session 97), he and Shane actually have some pretty deep conversations. They talk about Hollywood image vs. real identity and navigating public perception. Once again, the chemistry is palpable.

Charli XCX, episode 21

Getting Charli XCX on your podcast is no easy feat, but Shane definitely makes the most of the opportunity. She opens up about the pressures of touring, and touches on the astronomical success of Brat, but there's also plenty of funny moments too. At one point, she whispers to Shane the name of the celebrity she hates... We'd love to have been privvy to that information.

Benito Skinner and Mary Beth Barone, episode 74

The ultimate podcast crossover. If you're not already listening to Ride (Benito and Mary Beth's podcast) then you really should be. But we'd hazard that this episode would've earned the duo several new loyal audience members. It really is just that funny.

Audrey Hobert, episode 90

Shane is so well-versed in pop culture, so it's hardly surprising that he tapped Audrey Hobert to be a guest while she's on the verge of becoming a full-blown megastar. Hobert is also just as funny as Shane (she opens the episode with, “I’ve been in eight car accidents", and it only gets better than there), so you're guaranteed to be laughing throughout.
