Most exciting new cars coming to Australia in 2025

2025 is set to be one of the most exciting years for new cars in Australia. After finally shaking off the supply chain issues of the COVID era, this year will introduce more exciting car models to Australia than we've seen in the last five years combined.

Perhaps you're looking for a new vehicle that matches your lifestyle? Or maybe you're just browsing. Either way, there are the most exciting new car models coming to Australia in 2025.

Cupra Tavascan

The Cupra Tavascan is a design-led, all-electric SUV coupe. It builds on Cupra's legacy of  sharp handling and a dynamic design. With an estimated range of 534km, this car was set to arrive in April 2025 – so you might spot a few of these on the road already.

Zeekr X

Zeekr is one of the newest prestige auto brands to enter the Australian market. The brand's compact SUV, the X is a welcome new addition to the suite of EVs in Australia. It has up to 540km of range (RWD) from a 66kWh battery. Australian deliveries began this year, so you might have already spotted this one on the road.

Volvo EX90

The Volvo EX90 is a seven-seat, 100% electric SUV. You wouldn't expect a seven-seater to be classed as a performance vehicle, but this one most certainly is. It's very fast, it boasts a 111kWh battery and up to 570km of range. Early deliveries arrived in Australia in early 2025.

Maserati Grecale

The elegant Maserati Grecale is the latest in a long legacy of luxury from Maserati. It comes in both a full petrol and a mild hybrid. It's actually the very first electric vehicle for the brand, equipped with a 105-kWh battery with an output of 410 kW. Orders opened at the beginning of 2025.

Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 is the brand's zippy new take on an all electric, compact SUV. It's available in three trims, and it has a range of up to 600km depending on the battery option you choose. It's arriving in Australian showrooms in May 2025.

Jaecoo 7

The Jaecoo 7 is a mid-size SUV available in petrol and plug-in hybrid specs across four feature-packed models. It launched in Australia in May 2025, targeting buyers seeking value (you get a lot of kit for not a lot of cash) and versatility.

Audi Q6 e-tron

The Q6 e-tron is something different from Audi. It’s still a medium-SUV but it features a new and more sleek design that boasts a kind of low-key futuristic luxury. The estimated range is 542km-558km between the Quattro and Performance specs. It launched in Australia in early 2025.

Cadillac Lyriq

Believe it or not, Cadillac sells cars in Australia these days. One of the first to hit the streets in May was the Lyriq. It’s a sleek all-electric luxury large SUV featuring dual motors and offering up to 530km range. Prices start from $117,000.

Deepal S05

Deepal is a smaller Chinese EV company looking to challenge the big end of town. Its first compact SUV to land in Australia is the Deepal S05. Futuristic, neat and all-electric, this SUV is expected to arrive in Australia in late 2025. You get a small battery with around 200km of range or a model with a petrol-powered range extender which charges the battery rather than drives the car.

Geely Starship 7

Geely's new Starship 7 plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV is a serious road-tripper. Thanks to the power of electric and petrol combined, it features a claimed range of up to 1,400km on a single tank. That’s Sydney to Byron and almost all the way back again. The timing on this model isn't confirmed, but it could be here by the end of 2025.

GMC Yukon Denali

GMC might not be a name you’ve heard, but it’s actually the parent company of Holden in the US. The brand’s Yukon Denali now in Australia, and you’ll know if you’ve seen it: it’s enormous. Unlike other green models on this list, the Yukon Denali is a petrol V8 with no expense spared on the luxury interior.

Lamborghini Temerario

The Lamborghini Temerario is a plug-in hybrid that replaces the all-petrol Huracán model. You get a mid-engined twin-turbo V8 engine built for speed. But when you’re not in the racey Corsa driving mode, you can sit back in luxurious Italian comfort. It's expected to arrive in Australia in the first half of 2026.

Mini Aceman

You may have heard of the Mini Paceman, now there’s the Mini Aceman. It’s a futuristic blend of the Mini Cooper and Countryman, built for cities and packing between 310km and 406km, depending on the spec. And while it’s Mini by name it isn’t mini by nature, with five doors and a spacious interior packed with tech. Expect it here in the second half of 2025.

Skoda Elroq RS

Another VW-backed EV, the Skoda Elroq RS is a performance-oriented electric SUV that doesn’t look like a typical Skoda. The futuristic and sleek exterior gives way to a unique and tech-forward interior packed with tech and options. While the standard Elroq is set for a mid-2025 Australian release, the RS variant's availability is yet to be confirmed.

Smart #5

Once thought of as a brand that sold ultra-mini city cars, Smart is back in Australia, this time with larger, more stylish EVs. The Smart #5 is a mid-size electric SUV offering up to around 550km of range and features like a built-in cinema mode for when you charge. The quirky-looking, range-focussed #5 is slated for release in Australia in late 2025, with news of a plug-in hybrid model also on the way.

Volkswagen ID.5

If you’ve visited Europe lately you’ll recognise the Volkswagen ID.5, and now it’s finally available in Australia. This is a sleek electric SUV coupe with a range of up to 520km (WLTP). It's part of VW's ID family and is estimated to be available in Australia from July, 2025.

Alfa Romeo Junior

Classic Italian style and comfort meshes with futuristic in-car tech. That’s the Alfa Romeo Junior. A gorgeous compact SUV available in petrol and electric variants, with the EV offering around 400km range. It's expected to arrive in Australia in late 2025.

Hyundai Inster

It’s a compact electric SUV also designed for city runabouts. It looks like it’s straight out of a near-future sci-fi movie and has as much comfort-tech as it does safety-tech. Offering a range of around 300km, it’s anticipated to launch in Australia in late 2025.
