Few festivals hold the same cultural renown—or visual spectacle—as Coachella. The annual event, which unfolds over two weekends in the sun-soaked Coachella Valley, has become so much more than just a music festival. It’s a global cultural phenomenon that merges music, art, and a whole lot of fashion. While Coachella is known for assembling some of the most in-demand musical acts on the planet, it’s equally revered (and often scrutinised) for setting the tone when it comes to festival fashion.

With weekend one for 2025 now drawing to a close, we're buzzing not just from the electrifying sets performances by Lady Gaga, Charli XCX (with special guests Billie Eilish, Troye Sivan and Lorde in tow), and Lisa of BLACKPINK fame, but from the impeccable looks that festival-goers pulled together for the occasion.

Cast your mind back about a decade ago, and Coachella was synonymous with boho fashion in all its glory. Think: flowing maxi skirts, flower crowns, fringe, feathers, and crochet everything. While those staples once reigned supreme, the style narrative has shifted in recent years. Attendees are leaning more toward laid-back cool and comfort-driven choices than over-the-top ensembles. Celebrities like Timothée Chalamet and Hailey Bieber are leading the charge with a less-is-more approach to festival dressing, where slouchy denim, vintage baby tees, and well-worn sneakers replace face gems and elaborate costumes.

But that doesn't mean there's no place for dressing up. As we've seen across weekend one, there are plenty of attendees who still subscribe to the idea that, if there's one place you're going to bring your fashionable A-game, it might as well be Coachella. In other words, the festival remains a place where self-expression thrives, whether you’re channeling 2000s nostalgia or giving a quiet nod to streetwear.
