You know a podcast is special when, not even a year after launching, it wins the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast. But that's exactly what happened to ex-SNL alumni Amy Poehler and her podcast Good Hang, who took out the award in LA just last week. She may have only launched the thing in March 2025, but she's already rocketed to the top of everyone's watch-list.
If you're intrigued by the award-winning podcast – maybe you've even seen viral clips from the show on TikTok and are warming up to the idea of adding a new podcast listen to your weekly rotation – then look no further. There might not be a year's worth of episodes online yet, but that's still a lot of time spent listening to a back catalogue that not all of us have time for. So, we've done you the favour of listening to them all and cherry picking the best from the bunch – the funniest and most insightful, the most viral and contagiously joyful – so you can make a playlist of the hits.
Below, our guide to the best and funniest Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast episodes so far...
1. Tina Fey
Sometimes you've just got to start from the top. It'll come as a surprise to no one that Poehler launched her podcast last March with an episode interviewing her on-and-off-screen best buddy, Tina Fey. If you've seen their SNL skits, watched them host award shows, or love their work in films like Mean Girls, then you'll understand the kind of eye-watering, laugh-out-loud magic these two produce when they're in a room together. There's simply no better place to start your episode run.
2. Rachel Sennott
Obviously, only good things can happen when our Millenial queen of comedy and our Gen Z queen of comedy sit down for yarn. Sennott's proven herself a comedy writer through and through with her new show I Love LA, and these two talk everything from the NYC-to-LA pipeline, to Les Mis, to being an insurance nepo baby.
3. Gwyneth Paltrow
We rarely get to see the goofy side of Gwyneth Paltrow and yet, all Poehler used her charms to procure on of the most insightful and funny interviews we've seen in years with the actor.
4. Aubrey Plaza
Our darling Aubrey. There's never a day that isn't brightened by her dulcet, monotones and cynical expression – and we love her all the more for it. Poehler's podcast is one of very few media outings for the actor this year – and we couldn't think of anyone she's say yes to quicker than her old Parks and Rec costar.
5. Rachel Dratch
It's frustrating how overlooked Rachel Dratch often was on her SNL days in comparison to the duo that was Fey and Poehler – but Dratch was the perfect counterpart in their trio, and makes you remember exactly just how funny she was in this episode. We haven't stopped talking about "Sailing to the Grigios" since.
6. Cole Escola
The Tony-winning Oh! Mary star is so innately funny it even catches Poehler off guard – he's never not putting those improv skills to good use, batting away questions with the most bizarre and insane answers you've heard yet.
7. Michelle Obama
There's just nothing we won't watch with Michelle Obama in it. She's a well of good advice, calming energy and isn't afraid to laugh at herself while she's at it.
8. Kristen Wiig
Another SNL alumni, Kristen Wiig is another perfect comedic counterpart to while your afternoon away listening to.
9. Dakota Johnson
For someone who got their big break playing such a brooding character, you'd be forgiven for overlooking Johnson's comedic prowess. Her deadpan humour is as dry as ever, and her new rescue puppy named Tokyo makes an appearance too.
10. Seth Meyers
Seth and Amy have had an on-screen bromance for the ages – from their SNL days to now. It's always a pleasure to listen to these two bat back and forth.
11. Maya Rudolph
Ok... yes, we really are favouriting our SNL alumni in this list. But they're comedic geniuses for a reason, right? Who could argue Maya Rudolph isn't one of the funniest women alive right now?
12. Zarna Garg
A name that might be unfamiliar to those outside of the comedy scene, but not to be underestimated. Zarna is ferociously funny and this is a must-listen if you need a good belly laugh.
