Our favourite fashion Substacks to follow right now

Is Substack the new front row? Fashion, once confined to glossy magazine pages and the pixelated swirl of Instagram, is now thriving in the inboxes of the discerning and the stylish. And in an era where hot takes are currency and long-form is the new luxury, personalised newsletters have become the ultimate way to stay informed, inspired, and just a little bit insider-y.

These fashion Substacks are where real style conversations are happening. They're thoughtful. They're personal. They're sharp as a new Prada heel. And whether you're in it for the outfit dissection, cultural commentary, or just trying to figure out who to follow that has an equally charming obsession over weird shoes, this is your definitive list of the fashion Substacks worth subscribing to right now.

1. In the Details with Molly

by Molly Blutstein

If you follow her on Instagram (@accidentalinfluencer) or her equally as chic twin (@double3xposure), then we really don't need to explain this one. They've long been our sartorial north stars on Instagram, and when Molly jumped onto Substack last year, it was a no-brainer to follow her there. She exerts her impressive curatorial eye over all things chic here – marrying fashion and design through her unique lens of taste. We adore her Outfits & Interiors series in particular, where she dresses herself to match vintage home interior shots. It's sheer perfection if you ask us.

2. Mode Office

by anonymous

Mode Office is where we go to get our weekly fashion and culture news in a nicely wrapped little nutshell – for the corporate girlies and fashion professionals who simply don't have enough time in the week and would love an intellectual summary of what's what and who's who. "Smart is the new status" is the Mode Office motto – and we couldn't agree more. We'd highly recommend subscribing just for their weekly Boardroom Briefing posts alone.

3. So Darling

by Grace O’Neill

You might know Grace as the former Editor of Par Femme, or the former EIC at Elle Australia, or you might simply know her as one-half of the incredibly chic duo behind the uber-popular After Work Drinks podcast (alongside our own Isabelle Truman). But to know Grace is to know that she's a fashion powerhouse, and her Substack So Darling is a place for her musings – from Sky Ferreira to notes on motherhood.

4. Screenshot This

by Zara Wong

Wong is another fashion powerhouse (formerly at both MECCA and Vogue). But these days – aside from motherhood – she's largely occupied by Screenshot This (the most subscribed-to fashion Substack in Australia). From brand deep dives and her Style Strategy series, to monthly lists of things she finds chic – she's one of the most active users on the platform, so there's plenty of content to regularly devour here.

5. Throwing Fits

by James Harris and Jawn Legend

It's rarer to find a great menswear Substack, but James and Jawn, the duo behind the Throwing Fits podcast (the #1 global men’s fashion and lifestyle podcast) have jumped onto the platform to talk shopping recs, Paris Fashion Week play-by-plays, and of course, to home the video versions of their podcast – featuring interviews with everyone from rapper Denzel Curry to NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

6. The Cereal Aisle

by Leandra Medine Cohen

Leandra is a fashion OG – one of the first fashion bloggers to have taken the internet by storm. You may know her as the founder of the now-defunct Man Repeller, or you may just follow her as a stylish NYC woman with a penchant for rejecting sartorial norms. Her bite-sized articles are easily digestible at bus stops or on coffee breaks and range from love letters to "the perfect plain black flats" to candid street style reports captured from around her borough of the Big Apple.

7. Remotely

by Lucy Williams

Another of Instagram's legendary style queens who has made the hop, skip and jump over to Substack. If you don't follow Lucy personally, you've definitely had one of her photos saved to a Pinterest mood board for years. She's eponymous with taste – both in the fashion and interiors worlds (still obsessing over her English townhouse tbh). Remotely is a spot she self-professes is "A curation of nice things from a self-confessed homebody with too many clothes" and it delivers. She's no gatekeeper – from telling us each outfit she's worn on her Grecian holiday, to every paint colour used in her home reno.

8. ONE-PIECE

by Jordan Turner

Jordan Turner (aka @mrturner in Instagram) is easily one of Sydney's best dressed men (and most versed in cinema, might we add). His Subtack is a place to visit for thoughtful recommendations, opinion pieces and dissections of the Men's fashion landscape – from Jonathan Anderson's Dior debut to a tell-all on cargo shorts (and where to shop the best ones).

9. Cyclical

by Mandy Lee

There aren't many people on the internet doing fashion commentary as bold and as honestly as Mandy Lee (aka @oldloserinbrooklyn on Instagram). On TikTok, she boasts a following of more than 590k devoted fans, who adore her fashion hot takes, and obsession for weird and ugly shoes. We trust anyone who had Simone Rocha personally lend an archival gown for their wedding. Her Substack is a mish-mash of analysis and dissection – crossing over politics, styling and the most slept-on secondhand jacket sellers.

10. Mon Review

by Monica de La Villardière

Monica (@monicaainleydlv on Instagram) is a Canadian fashion journalist, broadcaster, and influencer based in Paris – though you might know her best from her podcast Fanfare, which she co-hosts with cookbook author Emma Knight. Her Substack is added to weekly with thoughtful opinions on fashion and culture. And if you're a paying subscriber, she'll treat you to her insider's guide to life in France: Your Woman in Paris.

11. Add to Wishlist

by Otegha Uwagba

The journalist and bestselling author has her own Substack where she gives you a peep into her monthly shopping lists in newsletter format, curating gift lists and giving you fashion week run-downs (she'll even share a couple of discount codes if you're lucky). She's got musings on gatekeeping and lists of stylish women to follow in Instagram. And occasionally she'll give you her thoughts on the latest celebrity scandal or kinky blockbuster too.

12. What I Put On Today

by Megan Strachan

If you're into fashion, this Substack is a must-follow. Strachan (aka @meganalidastrachan on Instagram) shares insider knowledge from the industry while exploring how fashion connects to the broader themes of life. One week she’s reflecting on what it means to be human, the next she’s raving about her favourite linen suits. It’s a mix of thoughtful and stylish – always genuine, and that's exactly why we love it.

13. Jane on Jeans

by Jane Herman

Herman, the writer and designer behind the L.A.-based clothing label The Only Jane, shares her passion for denim through this weekly newsletter. It's a thoughtful tribute to all things denim – covering everything from menswear and upcycled pieces to selvedge, belts, barrel jeans, and beyond. She even breaks down the denim choices of iconic style figures like Georgia O’Keeffe and Jane Birkin.

14. Après Studio

by Après Studio

Sydney’s cult-favorite fashion label has officially landed on Substack, offering a fresh space to explore everything from culture and influence to fashion, personal style, and beyond. But don’t worry – it’s not just a long-form ad campaign. The posts are genuinely thoughtful and opinionated, touching on topics like whether true timelessness exists in fashion and what we’re really paying for in the age of dupes.
