Once upon a time, the best way to discover a new book was by wandering through a bookshop. Now, ironically, you might have the most luck by scrolling on your phone. BookTok has transformed the way we find, talk about and fall in love with books, turning everything from old favourites to new releases into unexpected bestsellers. And, increasingly, those books are making their way off the page and onto our screens.
From college romances like The Summer I Turned Pretty, to stories with a sporty twist like Heated Rivalry, or perhaps something a little more fantastical (we're looking at you, Rebecca Yarros), there is quite literally something for everyone. So if you've read everything BookTok has to offer, perhaps it's time to turn your attention to our favourite BookTok adaptations? Peruse our picks, below.
The Summer I Turned Pretty

Jenny Han's books already had a cult following, but when they landed on screens it was something of a cultural reset. The story of Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah became a language all of its own, and if you were watching, you definitely had staunch opinions about which brother she ends up with. Lucky for us, the story isn't over yet, with a movie currently in development.

Verity

Another of Hoover's books, and one that proves she can do a psychological thriller just as effectively as a romance. The film adaptation of this isn't out just yet, but the book was a huge BookTok hit. It went on to receive three seasons, before finishing up with a feature film.
