After the checkered flag: inside Belvedere’s F1 garage party in Melbourne

The engines had barely cooled on the F1 track last weekend when Melbourne’s race-weekend energy slipped underground.

Tucked inside a luxury car garage on Saturday night, Belvedere Vodka staged something far removed from the polished hospitality suites typically associated with Formula 1. Concrete floors, hydraulic equipment, steel beams and an exclusive DJ set from Tame Impala became the backdrop for the brand’s Garage Party – an immersive celebration marking the launch of the Belvedere Organic Vodka F1 Edition limited-edition bottle.

Guests stepped into something closer to an art installation upon arrival: suspended vehicles hovering above the room like industrial sculptures. Mechanical jacks and tools had been mirror-polished and arranged as sculptural displays. The lighting was low, metallic, dramatic – bouncing off of chrome surfaces and turning the cavernous concrete space into a striking collision of motorsport grit and contemporary luxury.

At the centre of the garage sat a full-scale Formula 1 car, draped in fabric like a stage prop waiting for its reveal. And nearby, bartenders moved between stations pouring Belvedere Organic Vodka, the ultra-premium Belvedere 10, and the newly released Dirty Brew – an organic vodka infused with robusta coffee. Drinks circulated alongside caviar pairings, towering martini displays and a lineup of signature cocktails including the B10 Saketini Martini, the Belvedere Organic Lychee Martini and the Dirty Brew Espresso Martini. Later in the night, mechanics rolled through the crowd carrying Dirty Brew affogatos, a perfect nightcap to punctuate the evening.

The guest list reflected Melbourne’s wider creative community as much as the racing world. Musicians Sarah Ellen and KSMBA mingled with actors Roxie Mohebbi and Tim Kano, and creatives Yasmin Suteja and Riley Hemson. Hattie, Edie and Mae Piastri – sisters of Australian Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri – were also amongst the crowd.

The night reached its peak when Kevin Parker, the creative force behind Tame Impala, stepped behind the DJ decks for an exclusive set. The one-night-only performance came just before Parker begins his upcoming global tour, giving the event a sense of rare access. The garage quickly filled with movement as guests packed onto the dance floor beneath the suspended cars. “Was stoked to see everyone dancing,” Parker later shared. “Hope they’ll have me back next time.”
