Bambi Northwood-Blythe on beauty icons, fashion week wellness and her go-to Emma Lewisham SPF

In partnership with Emma Lewisham

Bambi Northwood-Blythe knows beauty. She's one of Australia's most recognisable models (her brows are basically a national treasure) and thus has spent ample time in makeup chairs. Beyond that, she's a Type One diabetic with a vested interest in holistic wellness, conscious skincare and rituals that fill up her cup, even in the wake of a tireless work schedule.

Post Australian Fashion Week, this couldn't be more true. Shows, dinners, parties... it's only fitting to temper it with ocean swims, breathwork and clean but effective skincare formulas (Bambi is an Emma Lewisham loyalist, the New Zealand-born skincare brand that also worked with Bella Pereira on the glistening Beare Park runway skin). Routines, rituals, post-party skin tricks and even a preview of the new tinted bronzey Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Glow SerumRUSSH's catch up with Bambi between shows and all the good bits that came from it, below.

Tell me about your relationship with beauty — where did it start?

My relationship with beauty really started through my mum. She always emphasised taking care of your skin over covering it up. It was less about looking 'done' and more about feeling healthy and fresh. Growing up by the beach in Australia also made me hyper-aware of sun care and skin protection from early on.

What’s your skincare philosophy now — has it evolved?

Keep it clean, consistent and conscious. I’m really drawn to products that are not only effective but also kind to your skin and the planet. For me, skincare is about health first — if your skin is thriving, beauty naturally follows.

On the topic, I know you love Emma Lewisham skincare...

I love that Emma Lewisham is science-backed and sustainability-led. The formulations are incredibly luxurious and high-performing, but without compromising the environment. Their circular beauty model is seriously impressive, and I always feel good using their products.

What does your morning skincare routine look like right now?

Mornings are about awakening my skin and giving it glow. I start with a gentle cleanser, followed by a hydrating mist. Then I apply the Emma Lewisham Skin Reset Serum, before I lock that in with a moisturiser, like the Emma Lewisham Supernatural Day Crème. I always, always finish with a high performing sunscreen. Right now it's the new Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Glow Serum, which gives this incredible luminous finish. If I’m heading out, I might dab on a tinted lip balm or brow gel, but I like to keep things minimal.

And evening?

Evenings are about nourishment. I double cleanse to remove makeup and SPF, starting with the Emma Lewisham lluminating Oil Cleanser, then apply a few drops of a facial oil — I love the Supernatural Face Oil — to massage my face. It helps me wind down, too. I'll follow it up with a hydrating serum and a rich night cream to let my skin recover. A couple of times a week I’ll use a mask depending on what my skin needs — soothing, hydration and a good detox.

Your best beauty tip to counteract the exhaustion that comes with fashion week?

Hydration, inside and out. I swear by an electrolyte boost and cold compress under the eyes. I also carry a mini facial mist with me everywhere — lifesaver between shows.

What about your wind-down rituals — is there anything you love to do to decompress after an event?

Dry brushing and then a bath with magnesium salts, a good playlist or sending and receiving voice notes with friends. It's like listening to the best podcast.

What’s the best beauty trick you’ve learned on set?

Probably ice. Makeup artists sometimes roll ice cubes over the face before applying makeup — it tightens, de-puffs and instantly makes your skin look more alive. Also, mixing a drop of face oil into foundation for that dewy, real-skin look.

And your weirdest beauty habit?

I apply lip balm to my brows. It helps tame them in a pinch, gives a subtle sheen and keeps them in place without that crunchy feeling some gels leave. It’s a bit unconventional, but it works.

Do you have a beauty icon?

I’ve always loved Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy — her look was timeless, effortless, and elegant without trying too hard. That minimal, fresh-faced vibe really speaks to me.

What wellness rituals do you swear by?

Daily movement, even if it’s just a walk. Breathwork and meditation have really changed the game for me. I use them to regulate stress and stay present. And AG1 every morning. It delays my coffee.

Best wellness spot for some R&R in Sydney?

The ocean, always and every time. I miss it so much when I'm in NYC or overseas. I love a beach walk at sunrise followed by a dip. Nothing makes me feel better.

Finally, best health or wellness advice you’ve ever received?

“Listen to your body — it’s always communicating with you. Sometimes just doing nothing is everything.” Whether that’s about rest, food or stress, tuning in rather than pushing through has made a huge difference in how I take care of myself.
