The best street style from Australian Fashion Week 2025 so far

Amid the flash of lights and the flurry of photographers, the true spirit of Australian Fashion Week often unfolds not just on the runway, but on the streets between shows. And this year, as the iconic event once again takes up residence in Sydney’s Carriageworks and beyond, the sidewalks have become something of an extension of the catwalks themselves.

It began on Monday night, where Carla Zampatti delivered an opening runway steeped in timeless elegance and sophistication. And by Tuesday, the official schedule was in full swing, with models, editors, and insiders delivering a masterclass in wearable cool.

There’s something distinct about street style in Australia. It's practical without being predictable — a necessity, given this year's somewhat rainy conditions — and firmly rooted in individuality. Even so, just two days in, and there have already been several clear trends emerge. Chief among them, oversized suiting (often complete with a tie) has proven popular amongst showgoers so far, as have biker boots (perfect for stomping through rain puddles), and the quirkiest bag charms. Oversized outerwear is another early favourite, either firmly fastened with a waist-cinching belt (or two), or worn open to reveal delicate layers underneath, when a a rare glimpse of sun peering through between ominous rain clouds allows for it.

To capture the mood in real time, RUSSH sent photographer Myles Kalus to the ground. His lens followed attendees exiting shows, weaving through Carriageworks and Sydney's laneways with the kind of off-duty elegance that’s hard to manufacture.

Below, see what the models of the moment are wearing during Australian Fashion Week 2025, with the best in street style so far.
