April is one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it months. Thanks to a few (very welcome) long weekends, it feels like no sooner were we welcoming the month than May was on the horizon.

One thing that has made an impact this April, however, was the fashion. I can't speak for the rest of the world, but here in Sydney, the weather has been pretty perfect. Warm afternoons mean I've been soaking up plenty of beach days and slipping into my favourite sundresses while I still can, and making the most of bare shoulders and open-toed footwear until winter really sets in. It follows that jeans-and-a-nice-top has been my go-to outfit formula for just about every occasion this month, from brunches, to afternoon drinks.

Light jackets — cropped trenches, collarless blazers, or styles with savvy in-built scarves — have also been getting a workout in my wardrobe rotation. They're perfect to throw on when you're en route to work and the morning chill is still lingering, but you can slip them off later on if the sun decides to come out and play.

Accessories-wise, my love affair with ballet flats and loafers has sustained its way through April. I love styles that add a pop of interest to an otherwise simple outfit — be it through colour, or even texture. My jewellery rotation reflects a similar logic — quirky pieces, like a mis-matched pair of earrings or a statement ring — are an easy way to add a pop of something fun to an outfit on an otherwise dreary day.
