Apple TV+ has hit replay on The Studio. The offbeat, behind-the-scenes Hollywood comedy starring and co-created by Seth Rogen will officially return for a second season, with news of the renewal landing just weeks before the show wraps its debut run.
After launching in March, The Studio has quickly carved out a niche with its irreverent humour and sharp dissection of today’s entertainment industry (in a similar vein to shows like Entourage or Barry). And while the renewal isn’t entirely surprising – given the show’s warm critical reception and steady buzz – it’s a welcome affirmation of its fresh comedic voice.
What is The Studio about?
Set within the fictional Continental Studios, the series follows Rogen’s character Matt Remick, a well-meaning but overwhelmed studio executive attempting to wrangle the chaos of filmmaking in the streaming era. Season one took viewers inside the absurdity of development meetings, creative clashes, and the desperate pursuit of franchise success (including an ambitious attempt to turn the Kool-Aid Man into a cinematic icon).
What will season 2 be about?
Rogen and longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg shared that they’re eager to build on the momentum, hinting that the next chapter will continue mining real-life industry anecdotes, albeit with a healthy dose of exaggeration. Their statement? A tongue-in-cheek pledge to loop their lived experiences into fiction “for ten more seasons.”
Who will be in the cast for S2?
So far, The Studio has managed to attract some serious star power. Season one offered countless blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearances from the likes of Martin Scorsese, Olivia Wilde, and Zoë Kravitz – whose endorsement of the series only added to its cultural cachet. But with a second season on the horizon, even more big names may be lining up to play exaggerated versions of themselves – or their industry nemeses.
When will it be released?
We're still a while off getting official word or release dates for S2. But we're thinking it's likely the season will land on AppleTV+ sometime in 2026.
