Hudson Williams has a new on-screen match, and it’s Dylan O’Brien

It’s starting to feel like Hudson Williams is one of those rare performers who has chemistry with just about everyone. And while his latest role isn’t opposite Connor Storrie, it’s hard not to expect a similar spark. The Heated Rivalry star is set to appear alongside Dylan O’Brien in Apparatus, a new independent thriller gearing up for production.

What is it about?

Sorry ladies, there's no hockey sticks in this one. At the centre of Apparatus is Tyler, a struggling ride-share driver whose luck appears to turn when he crosses paths with JP. But what begins as a chance meeting quickly evolves into something more calculated, as JP offers him what seems like a rare way out of his current less-than-ideal situation. As with everything, this opportunity comes at a cost, and the film is billed as a psychological thriller, tracing the line between aspiration and manipulation, and the consequences of mistaking one for the other.

Who is involved?

The film is written and directed by Sofia Banzhaf, who is a fairly prolific name in independent Canadian cinema.

Williams leads the film as Tyler, while O’Brien takes on the role of JP, the alluring and unnerving entrepreneur. Both actors have been booked and busy in recent months, with Williams also gearing up to shoot Yaga, and a second season of Heated Rivalry recently confirmed (we're not surprised, obviously). O’Brien has also had a busy year with Send Help and Twinless both recently released.

When does it come out?

Apparatus is currently in pre-production, with filming set to begin in Toronto at the end of March. While a release date has yet to be announced, the film is expected to make its way onto the festival circuit following completion, with more details likely to emerge in the months ahead. We'll keep you updated.
