Production is officially underway on Anxious People, a star-studded feature adaptation of Fredrik Backman’s bestselling novel, with BAFTA-winner Aimee Lou Wood joining Angelina Jolie and Jason Segel in the lead cast.
The project is being filmed in London and marks the first production to utilise the newly launched Pinewood Indie Film Hub, a dedicated space within the legendary Pinewood Studios designed to support independent filmmaking.
Who is in the cast and what is it about?
Wood, best known for her breakout role in Sex Education (and more recently, The White Lotus), adds another major credit to her growing career with this darkly comic ensemble drama.
She's set to star alongside Jolie, who plays Zara, an investment banker reluctantly attending an open house on Christmas Eve, and Segel, who portrays Grace, a bank robber who inadvertently takes the group hostage. What follows is a chaotic unraveling of secrets, revelations, and unlikely connections, all underscored by Backman’s signature blend of humour and empathy.
The film is being helmed by Marc Forster, the director behind A Man Called Otto and World War Z, with a screenplay from Oscar-nominated writer David Magee.
When will it be released?
With the film still in early stages of production, it'll be a while before we get official confirmation on a cinematic release date. But, we'll keep you updated here as we know more.
