Of all the people to ignite a fashion fever at Cannes, who had Eric Northman on their 2025 bingo card? Yet here we are: Alexander Skarsgård, the quietly charismatic Swede known for playing brooding men in even broodier dramas, has emerged as the red carpet's most unpredictable force.
Thanks in no small part to stylist Harry Lambert (the visionary behind Harry Styles’ fashion renaissance), Skarsgård is rewriting the menswear rulebook with a wink and a lot of leather. Gone are the days of safe suiting – this year, Skarsgård arrived with a sartorial agenda.
His Cannes Film Festival fashion tour kicked off with a bang (and a bow) – a petal-pink satin one, no less – worn with electric blue sequinned trousers from Bianca Saunders and a pinstriped Magliano blazer.
Then came the Pillion premiere: a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket styled over thigh-high leather boots. Not loafers. Not Oxfords. Boots up to the thigh. A nod to the film’s BDSM undercurrent, yes, but also a bold step into fashion-risk territory. And let's just say – WE LOVED IT.
At the photocall, he showed up in leather Loewe pants and a vintage white tee printed with bondage motifs – relaxed but loaded with intention. His collaboration with Lambert is clearly steering him toward a narrative-led approach to dressing. Each outfit a subplot.
But Skarsgård is no stranger to serving a look – he's been doing it for more than two decades (yes, scroll down to see). Here, we round up the best of Alexander Skarsgård style moments from over the years.
