Homewares brand Alex and Trahanas has launched its summer collection titled, 'La Famiglia', and it's transporting us to a nonna's tablescape in the South of Italy.

The collection launches online today, Monday November 2, and features a collection of tableware reminiscent of an ongoing love affair with the Mediterranean. Launching with an offering of large ceramic platters, jugs, serving bowls, vases and plates, the collection is said to tell the story of sun-kissed summer days that "revolve around sharing home-cooked meals with family – young and old, on a sun-drenched seaside terrace."

A sentiment that could not feel more apt for the pieces available. 'La Famiglia' features platters splashed with Apulan blue glaze, depicting line drawings of fish and faces while oval dishes are drawn with oranges and stripes, a unique expression of time and place on each statement piece.

Smaller items in the collection are more consistent, though remain laden with a unique vintage charm. Small ceramic desert dishes in opulent colours can be paired with mugs of the same design, while striped pasta bowls serve as a charming addition to any dinner table.

“Our ceramics become part of our lives, and create joy-filled, special occasions with our loved ones. We can’t wait for our pieces to do this for you too” say founders of the brand, Alexandra Heard and Heleena Trahanas of the collection. Each piece is hand painted in Puglia in the South of Italy, meaning no piece is the same, offering a unique and personal take on tableware.

While we wait for the year that has been to come to a close, nothing feels more joyful than a meal shared with loved-ones on a sun-drenched terrace - a sentiment we'll be cherishing in the warmer months ahead. When our tables have been empty for so long, 'La Famiglia' feels like a welcome concept this summer. The only question that remains is: Vongole or Aglio e Olio?
