Escape to the country with model Alannah Walton – her home workouts and remedies for easy beauty

Alannah Walton

For Sydney based model Alannah Walton beauty needn't be complicated. A lemon and honey water, a coffee scrub and generally doing less to your skin. It’s the simple things that rule her routine.

From spending more time on her family farm “slashing grass, planting trees, doing the fencing” to where she goes on YouTube for beauty inspiration, Walton takes us through her beauty routine from start to finish.

What is your morning beauty routine?

My morning beauty routine starts with lemon and honey hot water in bed. Followed by a workout.

What is your night beauty routine?

Once the day is over, I’ll have a nice shower and do a coffee face scrub. It’s the nicest, cleanest exfoliant and my skin loves it. What follows generally changes every night, but usually I will add Kora Organics Noni Glow oil, and then a spray of Heritage Store Rosewater and Glycerin spray.

Describe what you do for a living? What does a typical day look like for you?

At the moment I am modelling full time. I’d generally be running around to castings or work, but during Covid and isolation my typical day has changed dramatically. I have been spending time on my family farm in Berry, NSW. We spend most of our days here working in the paddocks. Slashing grass, planting trees, doing the fencing, and spending some nice quality family time. My boyfriend is here with me, so we have been going on some great beach adventures and walks.

What is the supermarket/ drug store/ chemist beauty product(s) that you use and love?

My favourite cheap drug store product that I have picked up along the way is Bioderma Micelle Solution. It’s the best product for properly removing makeup or residue.

What is your main form of beauty body maintenance? What products do you use on your body?

I like to exercise around five times a week if possible. It’s equally as important for my mental health as body maintenance. But it always makes me feel good. I have also just started using a lovely body oil, from a brand called Aya Pelle. It’s my new secret, made with Black Sesame Oil, Almond Oil, Frankincense, and Black Cumin Seed Oil.

How do you keep fit/ healthy? Does exercise form a large part of your routine?

It is a large part of my routine generally. During quarantine I have been enjoying Pilates and skipping the most. So easy to do at home, and I feel they work best for my body type.

What cosmetic procedures/ professional treatments do you have as part of your beauty routine?

I usually get a microdermabrasion once every two to three months, just for a deep cleanse. My skins better generally when it’s left alone, so this is enough for me.

What do you do when your body needs to recover?

I generally just take a day off, eat really nice meals that I haven’t cooked in a while, pamper my skin, and just relax.

You’re tired/ hungover/ rundown: what is your beauty hack?

Lots and lots of lemon water. And then 111Skin Eye cream. That stuffs actually magic. It still surprises me.

What is the one non-negotiable in your beauty routine?

Coffee scrub, hands down. I have used it since I was 13. It keeps my skin lightly exfoliated everyday.

Do you have a beauty icon? Who are they and why?

I don’t really have one if I am honest. I used to copy other people’s beauty regimes a lot, but found they didn’t work for my skin so I have just been creating my own over the years. I do love watching Natalie Portman and her cooking. She explains beauty from within, which I love and find interesting.

What is the best advice on beauty you’ve received?

Beauty comes from within, your gut specifically. Prebiotics, Probiotics, Antioxidants!

What is the best advice on health you’ve received?

Stay hydrated.

What is the one product you can’t live without?

Benetint from Benefit makeup. Lip and cheek tint. The best.
