When Adults first arrived last year, it quickly filled the Girls-shaped hole in our hearts. With its sharp writing, quick wit, and cast of new-gen talent, it managed to capture the chaos of being a twenty-something in a way that felt all too familiar. And, just months after its debut, FX blessed us all with the news that Adults will officially return for a second season. Here's what you need to know.
Who’s involved?
The series comes from real-life couple and creative duo Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, who first made their mark as the youngest-ever writers on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Since then, the pair have honed their distinct brand of observational humour, producing what was considered a success across the board with season one.
They’re joined by a team of executive producers including Nick Kroll, Sarah Naftalis, Jonathan Krisel, and Rob Rosell, with FX Productions once again steering the ship for season two. And yes, the ensemble cast – Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao, and Owen Thiele – will all return to navigate another round of chaotic dinners, existential crises, and questionable decisions. Recently, the cast did an interview with Teen Vogue where they shared season two will have a wide range of guest stars including Raven-Symoné, Susie Essman, Gaten Matarazzo, Zosia Mamet, Ben Marshall, Jake Shane, and Isaac Powell.
What is Adults about again?
If you're yet to binge season one, then that's a good place to start. But in a nutshell, Adults follows five friends sharing a Brooklyn brownstone (that technically belongs to one of their parents) as they try to figure out the confusing decade that is their 20s. While Girls was a little more about the messy optimism of your early twenties, Adults examines what happens next. But apparently for season two, there will be a two month time jump from where the first season left off.
When will Adults season two be released?
FX has confirmed that season two will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on the 11 June, before its public release on Disney+ in August. Specific date is still to be confirmed, so stay tuned here for more updates.
