We’re already adding these 2027 book releases to our reading list

We hate to tell you – but our 2027 reading lists are already looking dangerously good. We've been keeping tabs on all the big names, buzzy new releases and cult books we’ll be clearing space on the bedside table for.

From literary mischief and fantasy worlds to pool hustlers and Parisian chaos, these are the titles we think you should also be adding to your TBR pile for next year...

1. Thank You For Your Suffering by Michelle Zauner

Release date: April 27 2027

Five years since she blessed us with Crying in H Mart, Zauner is back – this time with a memoir focusing on the year she spent in Seoul, tirelessly studying Korean and redefining her relationship with her late mother.

2. Grenade by Coco Mellors

Release date: 8 April 2027

Coco Mellors, the Sunday Times bestselling author of Cleopatra and Frankenstein and Blue Sisters, is coming back to our reading pile with a sun-soaked, emotionally combustible novel about motherhood, marriage and the deliciously complicated business of wanting to be free. Set over three days in Paris, Grenade promises glamour, bad decisions and a woman on the brink of blowing up her carefully crafted life.

3. Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger by Kazuo Ishiguro

Release date: 9 March 2027

Nobel and Booker Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro turns his hand to a 1938 caper involving a mysterious woman, a possible jewel thief and a train bound for Scotland. It’s Ishiguro doing period glamour and sly comedy. We're sat.

Release date: September-November 2027

Raven Leilani follows her prize-sweeping debut Luster, winner of the Kirkus, Dylan Thomas, Center for Fiction First Novel and VCU Cabell prizes, with a sharp new novel about women artists, scandal and the messy business of making art. Expect her trademark bite, wit and unflinching eye.

5. A Court of Forgotten Melody by Sarah J. Maas

Release date: 12 January 2027

Is there a book with more rabid anticipation than Sarah J. Maasseventh instalment in her global fantasy-romance phenomenon? Bringing readers back to Prythian, with alliances crumbling and Koschei the Deathless still waiting in the wings. Expect magic, monsters, shifting loyalties. (Those 896 pages might disappear rather suspiciously quickly.)

6. The Last Days of Vic & Coco by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Release date: 2 March 2027

Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Daisy Jones & The Six, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Atmosphere, heads to the 1970s for a tale of two female pool hustlers chasing one enormous final score. Jenkins Reid is very at home in these kinds of world-building novels: think desert highways, dive bars, cons. Like Thelma & Louise with pool cues.

7. My Eliot by Donald Antrim

Release date: 12 January 2027

Acclaimed American novelist, essayist and cult “writer’s writer” Donald Antrim returns with his first novel in more than two decades – a delirious, darkly funny and deeply moving exploration of grief, despair and the strange paths towards transcendence. Blurring fiction, memoir and literary criticism, it is a fever dream of mourning and metamorphosis, told with the surreal wit and emotional precision that have made Antrim such a singular voice in contemporary American literature.
