Awards season continues, but this time we're headed to the UK for the evening, as the BAFTAs kick off in London. As with so many of the other awards ceremonies this season, it's shaping up to be one very tight race, with names like Paul Mescal, Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone and Renate Reinsve all vying for recognition in their respective categories.
It's also a monumental night for another reasons: for the first time, Australians are able to stream the action live from home. Of course, if you're planning on doing so, you’ll need to plan for both the time difference and the right streaming service. Below, exactly when and where to watch the 2026 BAFTAs from Australia.
Where to stream the BAFTAs in Australia
HBO Max has landed the rights to the 2026 BAFTAs. You'll need to pay for a subscription in order to watch, but they'll be covering everything from red carpet arrivals, to the main award categories.
What time does it start
The British Academy Film Awards begin at around 7pm on Sunday night in the UK, which translates to an early start for Australian viewers.
If you’re watching from the east coast, the ceremony begins at 6am AEDT on Monday morning. Here’s what that looks like across the country:
- Sydney / Melbourne / Canberra / Hobart — 6:00am AEDT
- Brisbane — 5:00am AEST
- Adelaide — 5:30am ACDT
- Darwin — 4:30am ACST
- Perth — 3:00am AWST
Watching via UK platforms
In the UK, the BAFTAs air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer. These services are geo-restricted to the UK, meaning they aren’t officially accessible from Australia without additional software, like a VPN. If you’re considering alternative access, be sure to review platform terms and conditions.
