Rae’s on Wategos, Byron Bay

Stay ...
The newly renovated Rae's on Wategos offers a total oasis from the outside world. The hotel and its seven rooms – consisting of a villa, four suites and two penthouses – each designed to impart a different and unique stay, was recently reimagined by Sydney interior designer Tamsin Johnson. The aesthetic is true to the laid-back Byron Bay lifestyle - natural fibres, a muted colour palette and one-off lighting and art pieces by Tom Riley and Byron Bay artist Todd Hunter, alongside a 500kg table from Melbourne-based stonemasons and artists at Den Holm.

Taste ...
Doma for great Japanese in Federal,
Rae’s restaurant – have a long, late lunch that turns into dinner and watch the sunset - The Farm Byron Bay for lunch at Three Blue Ducks and The Roadhouse for brunch.

See ...
Relax by the pool if its windy or just stroll out to Wategos – you have the best beach in Australia at your doorstep. Get a hire car and explore the surrounds after you have lazed and enjoyed your villa at Rae’s, do the walk up from Rae’s to the lighthouse, get a massage at Comma or drive around to quiet beaches in Broken Head Reserve.
