Ibiza, Spain

The other, and equally travel savvy, half of CuriousCities, Guy Hellier otherwise spends his time as an award-winning video editor for clients like Adidas, Nike and the BBC. In Ibiza – one of his favourite earthbound destinations, and incidentally where he met his wife and CC co-founder Katrina Israel – it’s all about balance: atoning for a long night at dance club Pacha with a healthy brunch the next day, or keeping it low key with a feet-in-the-sand lobster paella lunch washed down with chilled rosé – and lots of it.

Stay …
We tend to get a villa for the week that we’re there and my all-time favourite is Villa Indigo through Harissa Villas. I actually met Katrina there at a friend’s 30th birthday party.

Take …
Tomas Maier sunnies, Uniqlo & Lemaire shirts, Orlebar Brown swim shorts and white National Standard trainers for boating, Tod’s for everywhere else.

Taste …
Modern Italian La Paloma is the best restaurant for a romantic meal as you dine under the stars in a garden full of citrus trees dressed with fairy lights. That said, it’s also an ideal place to book for your whole villa, but you do need to reserve large
tables weeks in advance.

Listen to …
Beautiful by Viigo, on repeat. That said, I think it’s probably Bieber’s year.

Insiders tip …
Elements on Cala Benirras for a healthy brunch to erase the night before. Go on a Sunday if Blue Marlin is too much and watch the sun go down with the hippie bongo players.

In a day …
Breakfast at the Croissant Show in the Old Town after a walk up to Dalt Vila, which overlooks the harbour. Then hire a speedboat with a skipper and head to Formentera for lunch at Juan Y Andrea for feet-in-the-sand lobster paella and rosé. Lots of rosé. Tender back to the boat to explore the sand spit and idyllic coves for a swim. Later hit Ushuaïa for ANTS and finish up at VIP at Pacha. The perfect day.
