Christiane Spangsberg: A Summer in the Nude, Sydney

Clean lines and abstract curves, Copenhagen-based illustrator Christiane Spangsberg’s Matisse-like artworks are both striking in their simplicity and imbued with depth and reflection. A RUSSH favourite (her line drawings were shaped into Sun Signs for our latest issue), her minimalist figures and portraits shaded in blue ink invite the viewer to consider their own imperfections and humanity.

A Summer in the Nude, Spangsberg’s first Australian exhibition, will feature two series’ of female nude drawings evoking the dichotomy of womanhood; at once feminine and masculine, gentle and forceful. The exhibition will run from January 12 – 23 at Jerico Contemporary, Paddington.
