Artist Lani Mitchell presents Kind, Melbourne

Love has two sides. Visual artist Lani Mitchell paints from the heart, and her latest body of work, Kind, serves as an ode to kindness and compassion – a catharsis from the feelings we might find heavy or laborious. Her artworks use silken, marbled glass paint, rippling like topographic maps, imbued with depth and meaning to implore her audiences to see the two sides to each story – both the heart and the ache, the truth and the ruin. Kind will be on display for two weeks from May 29 at  Metro Gallery. Among the connections Mitchell has made through her art is one with RUSSH face Jessica Gomes, whom she captured with one of her works in L.A., following a discussion the pair had on female friendships and women in the arts: “I love hearing women speak and sharing there stories through art/film and in general life,” tells Gomes. “Women are being heard now. In painting I want them to be heard more.”
