A guide to Greenpoint, Brooklyn

There is a lot to talk about when it comes to Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s northernmost neighbourhood and my home for the past 7 months. With a substantial measure of up-and-comingness, Greenpoint honours a gritty industrial past while making way for a mix of sophisticated and laidback bars, restaurants and boutiques that cater to the area’s strong communal vibe. Here, charming townhouses, idiosyncratic bodegas, and a mishmash of Polish-run outposts line the alphabet streets and, on a clear afternoon, it is not uncommon to see a resident languidly playing some instrument or another on their front porch. Whether it’s a strong cup of coffee, a 1920s vintage frock or a record store to scrupulously comb for rare finds, Greenpoint has your every need covered.
