An apple-avocado a day

Despite recent revelations that millennials will be homeless due to a commonplace occurrence of a smashed avo once (or twice) a weekend, the legalisation of hemp in Australia provides good reason to indulge in a dish that includes the two.

Alike its counterpart, hemp (here used in seed form) contains all of the essential amino and fatty acids to maintain excellent health from the inside out. A remarkable source of antioxidants and considered to be the most digestible and beneficial protein available to the human body, hemp is also rich in zinc, sulfur, magnesium, and phosphorus - all leading qualities of enviously glowing skin.

Employing a holistic approach to the use of hemp will allow you to reap the rewards of this plant-based ingredient. Simply sprinkle on top of salads and smoothies, or add to this impressive side dish – a wholesome addition to your next summer soirée.

GF : DF : SF : V

Ingredients

2 medium avocados
½ lemon, juiced
2 red apples, finely diced
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
2 teaspoons hulled hemp seeds
1 tablespoon almonds, roughly chopped
¼ cup raisins
1 tablespoon hemp oil
1 pinch ground cinnamon
Extra almonds, hemp seeds, and apple to garnish

Method

Cut the avocados in half and scoop out the flesh, keeping skin.

Place the avocado flesh in a medium bowl and mash with the lemon juice (this will stop it going brown).

Add apples, celery, hemp seed, almonds, raisins, hemp oil and ground cinnamon.

Fill the avocado skins with the avocado mixture and garnish with extra almonds, hemp seeds and apple.
